ANTIOCH, Calif. (KGO) -- A Valero gas station on Hillcrest Avenue in Anticoh is back open after one of their cashiers was shot and killed by a robber. Antioch police are still searching for the gunman. The family identified the victim as 57-year-old Jawad Ataie. They say he was a father of three and had been married to his wife for 25 years. The family says Ataie was pistol whipped and shot twice in the back by the gunman. The family says Ataie worked there seven days a week to provide for his family. "This very, very, very sad news," expressed Agit Singh Sooch, who has owned the liquor store across the street for 20 years. He says he feels for his neighbor. ANTIOCH, Calif. (KGO) -- The widow and three children of an Antioch Valero gas station employee who was shot and killed Monday night during a robbery say they are devastated and at a loss as to why anyone would kill their loved one. Mohammad Jawad Ataie's family says he came to the United States from Afghanistan in the late 1990s. He worked at the gas station on East 18th Street and Hillcrest Avenue in Antioch for about five years. His family says he often worked 10 to 12 hour shifts more than five days a week to provide for them.

A gas station clerk was shot and killed Monday night during a robbery in Antioch, and the suspect apparently was shot and wounded by police before he got away, investigators said Tuesday.  Antioch police continued to investigate the scene at a Valero gas station where clerk Mohammad Jawad Ataie was fatally shot during a robbery, according to authorities. The violent string of events occurred around 8:30 p.m. Monday at the corner of Hillcrest Avenue and East 18th Street, police said. After a long, lucrative tenure in Memphis, former Michigan State Spartan Zach Randolph is moving out west. Randolph agreed to a two-year, $24 million deal with the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday, according to ESPN. In the twilight of his career, Randolph, used this late round of free agency for one more payday. Entering the off-season, the 35-year-old was up to $160 million in career earnings. Randolph played the last eight seasons in Memphis. The Grizzlies made the playoffs the last seven years, including a trip to the conference final in 2013, the highlight of what became known as the "grit and grind" era. Playing 68 of 73 games off the bench in 2016-17, Randolph averaged 14.1 points and 8.2 rebounds. In Sacramento, Randolph will give a young team a productive, physical presence in the post. Free agent George Hill has reached agreement on a three-year, $57 million with the  Sacramento Kings , league sources told The Vertical. Hill tested the market outside of the  Utah Jazz  and had significant interest from several teams, including the  New York Knicks ,  Minnesota Timberwolves  and  San Antonio Spurs , league sources said. Hill and his representatives met with the  Los Angeles Lakers  on Monday, but the Kings’ interest in Hill accelerated on Tuesday and the sides finalized an agreement. For Hill, the contract agreement with the Kings represents a chance to play in a city he is comfortable in and a market-level deal. Free-agent guard  Jeff Teague  agreed to a three-year, $57 million deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday.
